Lew Paper is a Partner with Dickstein Shapiro LLP in Washington, DC and heads the Firm’s Broadcast Practice. He has served as Associate General Counsel at the FCC, Legislative Counsel to Senator Gaylord Nelson, and Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center. He is the author of five books, including
Empire: William S. Paley and the Making of CBS. Lew is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Harvard Law School.

Andrew W. Marcus launched Sugarloaf Rock Capital, LLC, which manages SLRC Media Opportunities Fund, L.P., in 2009. Prior to that, he spent 16 years with Deutsche Bank Securities, Inc., where he was Vice Chairman of Global Banking, focusing on media and telecommunications from 2005 to 2008. He was previously Managing Director, Global Head of Media Research at Deutsche Bank and Senior Media Analyst. Drew has been involved in nearly 200 banking transactions, valued at over $100 billion, in the broadcasting, outdoor and entertainment sectors. He was ranked as the number one broadcasting analyst in surveys conducted by
Institutional Investor,
The Wall Street Journal,
Greenwich Associates,
Reuters, and
Red Herring Magazine. In addition, he was an eight-time
Institutional Investor “All American” and a six-time
Wall Street Journal “Master Stock Picker.” Drew graduated from the University of Michigan in 1983 with an AB in Economics and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Michael E. Bogdan leads Atalaya’s media and telecommunications investing, which includes traditional media, new media, and telecommunications services. Prior to joining Atalaya, he was a Vice President at Alta Communications, a leading private equity firm focused on small to middle-market media and telecommunication investments. Prior to Alta Communications, Michael invested equity and subordinated debt in a broad range of technology companies at Comdisco Ventures. He began his career as an investment banking analyst at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. Michael received a BA in economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
Lewis W. Dickey, Jr. is Chairman & CEO of Cumulus Media Inc., which he cofounded in 1997, as well as Cumulus Media Partners, which he created in 2005. Combined, they own and operate 350 stations in 68 cities, making it the second largest U.S. radio group in number of stations and fourth largest group in total revenue. A second-generation broadcaster, Lew founded Stratford Research in 1985 and is the author of
The Franchise–Building Radio Brands, a definitive text on competition and strategy. He holds a BA and an MA in English Literature from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard University and currently serves on the NAB Board.
Jeff Ferry is Director of Goldman Sachs Specialty Lending Group (GSSLG). He helped to start up GSSLG, a middle-market investment platform company created as a wholly owned subsidiary of Goldman Sachs & Company. His primary focus is on investments and transactions in the Telecom, Media and Technology sectors. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Jeff served as SVP with GE Capital in its Media & Communications Finance Group. He graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in finance and received an MBA from the University of South Florida.
David J. Field is President and Chief Executive Officer of Entercom Communications Corp., one of the country’s five largest radio broadcasting companies and a member of the New York Stock Exchange. Entercom owns and operates over 100 stations in 23 markets including San Francisco, Boston, Seattle, Denver, Sacramento, Portland, and Kansas City. A former investment banker at Goldman Sachs & Company in New York, David holds a BA from Amherst College and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He was named one of the Best CEOs in America by Institutional Investor magazine in 2006, 2007, and 2008. David served as Chairman of the Radio Board of the NAB from 2005 to 2007.
Gregg E. Johnson is a Managing Principal of BIA Digital Partners, a private equity fund with $280 million under management. The fund focuses on mezzanine investments of $5 to $15 million in the media, telecommunications, education, information, and related business services industries. He is a co-founder of BIA Capital Strategies, LLC, an investment bank and a registered broker-dealer formed in 1992, which provides M&A and financial advisory services and also arranges debt and equity. The firms are affiliates of BIA Financial Network, the nation’s leading communications industry valuation, consulting and research firm.
James Kuster is Managing Director and Head of M&A and Corporate Finance Advisory for RBS Securities Inc. His group focuses on event-driven transactions for clients of RBS. Within his group are corporate finance advisory teams dedicated to specific industry verticals. Prior to being named head of the group, Jim led the Telecommunications, Media and Technology (TMT) team. Prior to joining RBS, he was a partner and cofounder of Crest Advisors, LLC, where he advised companies in the TMT industries from 1999 to 2004. Jim worked in the TMT group of Chase Securities from 1987 until 1999.
Dan Mason is President and Chief Executive Officer of CBS Radio and oversees CBS Radio’s 134 stations, as well as the day-to-day operations of the division. Dan returned to CBS Radio in April 2007 after serving as an adviser and consultant to CBS and other domestic and international companies in the radio broadcasting industry for the preceding five years. Prior to that, Dan was President of CBS Radio from 1995 to 2002. Dan holds a BA in broadcasting from Eastern Kentucky University and an honorary Doctorate of Humanities from that institution.
Mary Quass is President/CEO of NRG Media, LLC in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. NRG Media was formed in March 2005 and presently operates 54 radio stations in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, and Nebraska. Mary was honored by
Radio Ink magazine as one of the 40 Most Powerful People in Radio from 2005 to 2008, and the 50 Most Influential Women in Radio, topping the list in 2007. In 1999, she received the prestigious Radio Wayne Award for Broadcaster of the Year from
Radio Ink and has been inducted into the Iowa Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame.
Joseph Schwartz is President and CEO of Cherry Creek Radio LLC, which focuses on the western United States and is one of the country’s fastest-growing small market radio groups. His 32-year background in radio includes ownership and management positions in both large and small, public and private companies, as well as all-size markets, both rated and unrated. A native of New York City, Joe holds a BA in English from Queens College, City University of New York.
Kevin T. Shea has more than 20 years of experience in crisis management, business restructurings, corporate finance, and M&A. He is currently a Managing Director with Loughlin Meghji & Company, which provides financial advisory and financial restructuring services for a wide variety of companies, including those involved in the radio and television industries. Kevin’s more recent endeavors include serving as Interim CRO/CFO for Pappas Telecasting, advising the Senior Lenders of Young Broadcasting, New Vision Television, and Freedom Communications, as well as providing consulting services for a large group radio owner. Prior to joining Loughlin Meghji & Company, Kevin spent several years in the media/telecom corporate finance group at Chase Manhattan Bank. Kevin earned a BA in business administration from Marquette University and has studied bankruptcies and reorganizations at the New York University School of Law.
Raymond Shu serves as Managing Director and Team Leader, Media & Entertainment Originations, for GE Capital’s Media, Communications & Entertainment business. In this position, Ray leads his team in providing financing solutions to companies in the Media and Entertainment sectors. Ray joined GE in October 2000, where he has held several senior positions including Managing Director, Risk. Ray earned a BBA in finance from the University of Georgia and an MBA in international finance from Georgia State University. He also received Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 1997.
